Female Operations Worker: I went as a last minute thing decision and am so happy I did. A few things she said hit so close to home, that it had to make a difference. Both fabulous sessions showing how something so small can make a huge change in your life both personal and work.
Upstream solutions

Great sessions and nice to hear this feedback from someone who actually has a real story and life experience that Di shares and shows how she has applied what she teaches in a very real "no bullshit" way
Thanks again

I have had the benefit of a wide range of experiences in my adult life, through being a Lawyer, an Army Infantry Officer, Development Financier, now the owner of a retail chain and last but not least a Husband and Father of four.
During this time I have benefited from being exposed to may inspirational and motivational individuals.  Di Padgett is equal, and in some ways better than any I have seen.  Why?
There are two reasons.  Firstly because she is so much like you and I.  That covers a pretty wide group!  Secondly because she offers powerful but practical advice that can change anyone’s life for the better today and in the future.  She did that for me and a large number of my team.  I recommend that you allow her the same opportunity to do the same for you and anyone around you.
Warwick Parer - Robins Kitchen

Just like to let you know that I have changed a great deal since your workshop!
I have been known to sing James Brown in the shower
I have asked people everyday at every opportunity about their good news
I have always been able to find good news
I cleared my bedside table
I went to the doctors rooms and gave the telephonist a flower to put on their desk to remind them to smile
I thanked a friend with a manicure gift voucher
I put stickers and glitter and wrapped a present with ribbon for my half sisters birthday
I gave out flowers to people at a different workplaces if they could tell me good news
I gave the retiring Director of Nursing a flower to remind her that retiring means to stop work
I put make up on - even when it wasn't special occassion
I bought myself lunch on a hectic day
I gave my husband a massage
I requested lingerie for my birthday
I have found my sessions with the kids a lot more fun when I am happy and full of energy
I have persuaded my husband that we should buy an apartment in the CBD - we both went looking last Sunday and he met with agents for look throughs yesterday - so much fun to have a new vision!
So yes - you have made a huge difference to my life - thanks!
But I already have a gift from you - the book - which I will get to open at the staff room table at morning tea while wearing the Birthday hat!
So no CD for me - just an encouraging letter for you to read out whenever you need to - you deserve to hear good news!
Thanks
Andrea - Wantirna Heights School

Hi Di,
Thanks for the morning of inspiration at Wantirna Heights School last week.  Here’s my attempt to make some changes starting that afternoon.
Day 1 Went straight to the Estee Lauder counter of Myer and had a mini makeover – bought new mascara and eye pencil. Not sure about the look!
Day 2 Daughter at her father’s and I was home by myself.  Bought some smoked salmon and cheese and had a lovely glass of wine as my dinner.  Used the Wedgwood crockery!
Day 3 Got into the gym and ran 4.5kms – pretty good for a new novice to running.
Day 4 Decided to pay and get my car cleaned instead of putting it off for me to do and get the exercise.  Pity it rained the next day, but the car is still nice and clean on the inside.
Day 5 Went for another run in the gym.  Spoke to my 21 year old son in America and told him I loved him – he told me the same.  I miss him heaps.  Had a nice cooked breakfast by myself.
Day 6 Saved money on DVD rental by using a shop-a-docket.   Bought a notebook for my goals and have set some which I am reaching.  Must finish my tax by this Sunday.
Day 7 Resolved an issue with an upset 11 year old daughter (girls at school thing) by suggesting a cup of milo would help.  Re-thought that and suggested she come to the gym with me.  She loved the idea and immediately got changed into training gear. She soon forgot her troubles. I got to run and she played on the equipment and listened to her iPod.  Family and health in one go!  Very pleased with myself!
I am well on the way to changing things.  Can I back date this to Feb 06?   I have lost 22 kilos since then and am happily trying to loose a bit more.  Work is good and I love my job – I’ve really got into some study over the year and have started tutoring one student a week as a result.  So I’m getting the money side of things happening.
Just have one glitch and that’s with the ex-husband.  Hard to have positive thoughts about him when he messes with out daughter’s head as he does.  Need a little help here!
Have set myself a goal for Feb 07.  Do you know any decent single men for this gorgeous 46 year old?
Gillian - Wantirna Heights School

Hi Di,
I would like to thank you for your presentation last Thursday.  It reminded me of the little things that we forget along the way and some of those deeply buried thoughts and feelings as well.  I have not had the TV on once in the morning, instead choosing music and my 13 year old daughter and I have not had a fight since (usually over her hair not going the right way).  We have taken to drinking out of wine glasses with our tea and this makes my girl feel very grown up & special.
Amazingly you are right - when you ask they do respond by doing it!!! Boy oh boy why didn't I think of that before.

My 76 year old father thought I had lost the plot when he received his birthday card, but it did make him laugh.  I really enjoy searching for stickers and little bit & pieces that can fit inside the cards.  Again thank you I like all the positive energy that is around our home and we are planning to keep it there.

Dear Di,
Thankyou for coming to speak to us on our PD Day on Wednesday the 16th of August. You were fantastic & definitely made our day 'very special'. You are a great speaker & captivated everyone in the room. I really like the idea of asking the question: "What's been the best thing about your day today?", & I have begun to use that in everyday practice. I think this is a powerful question, that can cheer someone up & put a smile on a colleagues face straight away. Thankyou again Di & have a lovely day.
Gosia Cholewa - Speech Pathologist Wantirna Heights School

Hi, Di.
Last week I attended one of your seminars at Wantirna Heights School for Autism. This is how my life has progresses since then:
Wed.16th: Removed rolls of fabric from under bed and vaccumed it.
Thurs.17th: Told my husband I loved him even though I think he's let himself go a lot.
Fri.18th: Used our good crockery and cutlery for dinner.
Sat.19th: Had some time just to myself and enjoyed it without guilt!
Sun.20th: Went and saw my aged mother and enjoyed the visit.
Mon. 21st: Accepted a compliment with grace.
Tues.22nd: Asked around the dinner table what was the best thing about everyone's day. (I have two sons and a husband)
Wed.23rd: Had a long soaking bath and fell asleep in it!
Thurs.24th: Lit candles for dinner and played soft music throughout.
Fri.25th (today) Let the day flow without worrying about the future and guess what? I had a great day! I have an eclectic mix of music at home but don't have 'I feel good' by James Brown and think it would be rather nice to have. I've attended many seminars over the years re: positive attitudes to life and setting goals etc but yours was different because you told us your story about your childhood etc., I thought the day was a hoot! Thanks.

We were looking for a Key Note Speaker for our 2006 annual client convention and following a very long thin thread of events I was finally referred to and met Di Padgett.
We were looking for a special kind of person who had a very specific message to deliver – and it was important that the speaker would need to deliver their message with boundless enthusiasm and passion. The pre-determined convention theme was "The Man in the Mirror". It was pitched at "self". Our clients are all dynamic small business owners and operators of wide-ranging types of different businesses and they are from 'all corners' of Australia and New Zealand. Some have 50+ employees and others have only a few. Some have only been in business for a few years, while others have been for 30+ years. Some have millions of dollars turnover per year, while others have (even!) less than a million. None-the-less, they all understand one thing… to build a World Class Business, they must develop quality systems to run their business and develop quality people to work their systems. As a result of this understanding, they are into systems development and people development.
I connected with Di Padgett at "hello" when we first began to chat, exploring the possibility of her being our speaker. We engaged her and briefed her on our desired outcome and with "The Man in the Mirror" theme. When Di arrived at our convention in Alice Springs she became a fixture – a part of the furniture, as if she has been there with us all the time! Our clients and our team all warmed to Di at "hello" and this was the day before she was scheduled to present. Di was brilliant to work with and by the time she stood up in front of her audience for the first formal time we knew that she was going to find it difficult to exit! We knew that she would be 'hounded' until her plane departed; as she was! Di was a huge hit with every attendee and subsequently our clients have given feedback that Di was the "icing on top of the cake". For weeks after they have been talking about Di and her 'many' presentations to us over those 'timeless' two days in Alice Springs – and at the end, no-one wanted it to finish!
Without hesitation, Di Padgett would've been my first choice if I'd met her 12 months earlier when we first began to seek a Key Note Speaker for this event. Even with hind-sight, I don't believe we could've planned it better. Di is so very special, a wonderful presenter and served our convention with Blue Ribbon and Five Star Glory. Di delivered exactly as she promised… and some… with a whole lot more!   If you want to ask me more about Di, please don't hesitate to call me on 0500-6962-01. I'll tell you the truth! (LOL) which is far too hot to put in writing in a public document. [;-)    She truly is a Brilliant Lady!
Thanks so Much Di for sharing your story, your messages, your enthusiasm and packaging it up with passion. Our clients loved your part in our convention, as we did. Just brilliant!Enjoy!and Here's to More Life!
Don Farnden - Nationwide Training Australia

Di did an excellent presentation on achieving a work life balance for our predominately HR audience. What Di brings to the audience is her warmth and real life stories. The audience could relate to her stories and they would laugh or share a smile because she speaks from experience and she is REAL. What makes Di unique as a motivational speaker is she doesn't preach and give you all the hype which some motivational speakers tend to do. She is a mother, a business woman and a wife. Hence she is able to engage the audience and share her real life stories with humour, passion and honesty. The strategies she provides are not rocket science but rather simple things that we often take for granted or forget to apply in our daily lives. She reminds us to reconnect with our family, friends, work, health and oneself to achieve a better work life balance.
Dasy Ieng - Channel Development Manager - The Age Company Ltd

Hello Di,
I attended the Age Luncheon on Friday 4th  and I just wanted to let you know that I thought you presented excellent.  It made me think a lot about a number of different things and I have certainly taken on board a great deal.  So thank you! Also – I tried out the ‘What was the best thing about your day’ with my partner who is sometimes a little short of words and it was so nice to get a great response which was ‘seeing you’.  Much better than getting an answer if he’s day was not so good!
I do hope to attend some of your seminars or courses in the future.
I hope you have had a great day and had a chance to enjoy the sunshine!
Thanks again.

Hi Di
It was great hearing your presentation on Friday. Already I have started to ask my son what the best part of his day is at dinner each night. It has only taken a few day and already I'm getting sensible answers. I also emailed your web page to my team about your top 10 secrets to being happy.
I hope that cheers some of them up.
Carolyn Hall SBS Manager Customer Services & Human Resources

Hi Di  I attended your presentation on Friday at the Museum, thank you for a wonderful inspirational presentation, as requested I have introduced two things to put a positive spin on my day:
1. When I wake up I choose my attitude ie I'm going to be positive and have fun.
2. I ask my husband and 4.5 year old son 'What's the best thing about your day?' which so far they have had to think about for quite some time, but I keep at them, nicely, until they give me an answer.  It has even rubbed off on my husband and he asked me the other day when I walked in the door and it felt great. I do ask my daughter but she is only 21months so when she is old enough to answer she will be ready to answer.
thank you and have a fantastic day

Attending the lunch and meeting you ! Thank you so much, for a laugh, and just a good old fashioned dose of common sense . Have a great weekend
PS Thank you for your compliment for smiling at you , it was my pleasure !
COLLEEN TANKARD - MRCSA Partner Legal People

Hi Di
Firstly just want to say a huge thank-you for your session that you presented on Friday at the The Age My Career Luncheon. It was such a refreshing seminar to attend and I left feeling rejuvenated and up beat. That night I spoke to my partner and said, 'what is the greatest thing in your life right now?' firstly he looked at me really puzzled as if I was ill and then when he realised I was serious answered the question with 'it's the weekend' which was a start. We have now made a pact that at the end of each day we will ask each other what the best part of our day was.
This is something that my parents actually made us do around the dinner table each night when we were kids so it is nice to once again commence doing it.
This morning in my usual team meeting I commenced the discussion with, what was the great about your weekend and it created a nice atmosphere on what can sometimes be a unexciting Monday morning meeting. I plan to also ask the team regularly what is the best part of their job that they love, which will have the impact I hope of motivation and focussing on the positive points where sometimes you only hear about the problems.
I must say I love the birthday hat! For everyone's birthday we have morning tea which everyone contributes to by baking or buying something on the way to work as well as all signing a card. Your birthday hat would be a tremendous addition that would be well received! So if I am fortunate enough to be one of the winning entries in terms of implementing tips from your workshop we would love a hat- otherwise i'll source one as they are a great idea for making that day even more special for the birthday person and team!
Once again many thanks for your seminar- it was really enjoyable!

On December 2nd 2004, Di Padgett was the guest speaker at the Melton Home Based Business / Business Links Seminar. In a room of Businesses seeking new innovative ways of motivating themselves / their staff, Di delivered a fantastic presentation on "How to achieve a Better Work-Life Balance". With the audience captivated, Di's genuine passion was evident, referring to a number of key challenges and strategies to address them based on many of her real life experiences. Feedback from the audience indicated Di's message had inspired them to achieve their goals. Di's presentation was very professional, humorous and was delivered at an informal level that captured the audience and had them interacting with Di throughout the presentation. She definitely has had a long standing impact on the audience.
Troy Scobles - Melton Shire Council

Extremely valuable presentation to the Home Based and Small Business Community. Di's down to Earth style helped her really connect to the business and generated enormous amount of discussion and positive feedback about how the audience easily related to her key points.
Kirsty Lumley - Melton Shire Council

I had the pleasure of being in the audience of a recent Maroondah HomeBiz networking function which is supported by the Maroondah Council. At this session, Di Padgett gave a presentation on how to achieve a better 'Work Life Balance'. After speaking with many of those present, I can attest that the attendees, myself included, were able to identify a number of key strategies and changes which we could implement immediately to improve our current lifestyle. Notably, the main reason why Di's presentation was so powerful and meaningful, is that she is not an academic, but rather an example of someone who can empower others by sharing the methods she has used to overcome personal challenges. Given her life experiences and genuine passion to assist people to reach their fullest potential, the audience was fully captivated by her presentation. The style in which the presentation was delivered was extremely professional, yet her delivery had an element of informality which further engaged all present. Importantly, when delivering a session in a limited timeframe, Di was extremely focussed on the topic and had clearly fully researched and thoroughly prepared the presentation for her target audience.

I would highly recommend Di, she is truely inspirational and a lot of fun. The feedback we recieved from our members was very enthusiastic and they all felt they could take on what Di spoke about to bring positive changes to their life.

The feedback and response was nothing short of amazing. The general feedback was how "real" Di was. Since our two day retreat I have seen incredible changes in my Managers. Was I happy with Di Padgett? YOU BET! Would I recommend her services? DEFINITELY!

In more than 8 years in the training field I have seldom come across an individual with the energy, enthusiasm, commitment, communication skills and first hand knowledge of this lady.
Dale Cockayne - General Manager - Yarra Ranges Training.

Laughter and good spirit abounds the rooms and this has flowed through to the children's attitude and behaviour. I have also noticed that several of the girls have grown and are more settled in their personal life, this I am certain can be attributed to your philosophy of whole of life and not just work life separate from personal life.
David Hams - Chief Executive office Smarties Early Learning & Child Care Centres

The "participation method" always works well for us and we thoroughly enjoy your style - it's a great teaching technique. You certainly made everyone feel special.

Personal Testimonials

I met Di at one of her courses about 6 years ago. At the time I was feeling lonely and a very negative about life. Di taught me to start noticing all the great things around me and to take action for myself. I started going to the gym, and I wrote a list - for my perfect guy. In a very short time he arrived - literally on my doorstep and I'm now happily married with 3 kids. If I have a hard day now its much easier to get back on top of things by remembering Di's advice to think about all the great things in my life that I can be thankful for - and to have a good laugh! Thanks Di, you are a wonderfully infectious person, I still think back to the great moments of inspiration that I got from your course!

Sometimes when things are not going the way that you would like them to, and you chat to your family or friends, or even just think about what is wrong in your life, you attract more of the same. With the skills that I have a aquired through the courses that I have done with Di Padgett, at You Are Special, I can honestly say that with practice and perserverence, I can change what comes into my life through the power of my thoughts.... Let Di show you how... You will truly be amazed with the results. Thanks Di!
Tracey Waters-James

Di was a wonderful inspiration to me, beginning at least 7 - 8 years ago. A time in my life when I was a negative & quite depressed person & I was looking for change in my life. Di's courses & classes have helped me mentally, physically, emotionally & spiritually. Through all of lifes' lessons, whenever I have been knocked down, I can always hear Di's inspiring words in the back of my mind to help lift me up & get me back on my feet. Through 'Happiness', 'Get Real', 'Goal Setting' & 'You Are Special' courses, I have so many tools that have helped me achieve so much more in my life than I ever anticipated. I am grateful that Di & You Are Special crossed my path when I was at a crossroads in my life not knowing which direction to take. She is truly an Earth Angel.
